After Building Skyscrapers, a Midcentury Modernist Turned to His Neighborhood

Barnes, who graduated from the Harvard Graduate School of Design in 1942, resided in Westchester County, New York. He built a number of modern residences in the area, including his own home (pictured), which was completed in 1952.
